Karnataka HM directs police to conduct survey on illegal foreign nationals overstay

Mangaluru, June 28 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra has instructed Dakshina Kannada police and city commissionerate to conduct a survey of foreign nationals staying illegally in the district. "I have directed the police to submit a report on the matter within two weeks," he told a section of media on Tuesday. The minister had held a meeting with top police officials of Dakshina Kannada district on Monday evening. A similar survey also was conducted in Bengaluru and illegal immigrants were arrested and sent to detention centres, Jnanendra said. The survey is to ascertain foreign nationals staying even after expiration of their visas and sans valid documents, he said. Jnanendra also directed the police to find out whether the foreign nationals have secured fake Aadhaar, ration and voter ID cards. Western Range IGP Devajyothi Ray, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar and Dakshina Kannada SP Hrishikesh Bhagavan Sonawane were present in the meeting.
